This workshop has been conceived for those students who wish to discover (or rediscover) in a week the poetry and the magic of Florence, with its renaissance buildings and its skyline dominated by the cathedral dome, as well as the relaxing atmosphere of the Tuscan countryside, with its vineyards and olive groves.

The aim of the course is to help the student to create a sketchbook with unforgettable memories of the historic city and its spectacular surroundings.

The course can be recommended to both Art novices and to experienced artists and professionals who intend to familiarize with the freehand drawing as well as with the perspective sketch while touring the main monuments of Florence.

During outdoor sessions students will learn how to draw and paint landscapes, cityscapes and architectural elements, such as squares, medieval towers, churches and narrow streets. The following techniques can be chosen: pencil, water colour, oil painting and pastel. Practice will concentrate mainly on the use of colour and on the perspective method.

The workshop has a duration of 5 days, from Monday to Friday, for a total amount of 30 hours of tuition, and it includes an excursion in the countryside around Florence.

Classes are held both in Italian or English.

Please note:
– Every day lunch break will be from 1 to 1.30pm.
– the programme may be subject to some variations in case of bad weather conditions;
– please wear a hat and comfortable shoes during classes, because you will be required to walk under the sun in order to reach places in Florence where to draw and paint;
– on some days students may need to climb multiple stairs in order to reach iconic views of Florence. In this case please walk at your pace.
– please bring some water and some food with you;
– upon your request we can provide you with a portable easel and a small collapsible chair.
