Members of staff at the Accademia del Giglio offer free advice on:

– Reliable and professional medical assistance, i.e. where to go and whom to contact, should a doctor be required.

– Public transports, travel cards, train time-tables and flight schedules, special travel offers for Italy and Europe;

– How to open a bank account, exchange foreign currency, receive money from abroad.

– Students’ rights in relation to private accommodation or hotels.

– Entertainment, exhibitions, museums in Florence and Tuscany.

– How to enrol in University courses, at the Accademia di Belle Arti, regional and county schools.

Services

Visa

Visa and Permit of stay

The Accademia del Giglio is available to help and advise those students who need visas to enter the country and those who need to prolong their stay in Italy to complete their studies.

– If you are a citizen of the European Union, or if you carry a passport of one of the countries which are members or partners of the European Union you are not required to apply for any visa to come to Italy.

– On the contrary if you are an oversea student or if your country is not a member or a partner of the European Union you are kindly requested to contact the nearest Italian Embassy or Consulate in your country and apply for a visa.

In order to obtain a visa you will need our letter of acceptance attesting you will be taking classes during your stay in Italy. Please do not forget that we are entitled to mail you our letter of acceptance only after completing all our admission procedures. Please make sure your visa will be delivered to you before leaving your country. If you have problems in obtaining your visa (in some countries it may take up to 5 weeks to obtain it), advise us AT LEAST 8 days before your course starts. Those students who advise us too late may have their course cancelled and they will be allowed no refund.

Transfers

Pick-up service

A member of staff will welcome the students on arrival at the Florence station or at the Florence airport and will take them to their accommodation in Florence. This service should be requested when the student’s application form is submitted and it is available between 6am and midnight.
The charge for this service is 50,00 € both from Florence station and from Florence airport.

Teenagers

Giovanissimo

This service is especially deviced to help students aged between 13 and 17 who need support outside school and at weekends. A tutor will help students with their homework and will monitor their learning of the language and other subjects. Personal tutors are in close contact with the teachers and the host family. Students will have access to the tutor’s home phone number for emergencies. The charge for this service is 150,00 € a week.
