“We are all hungry and thirsty for concrete images. Abstract art will have been good for one thing: to restore its exact virginity to figurative art.”\u00a0Salvador Dali<\/p>\n

Abstract art became popular in the last century when some artists started to paint shapes in order to create a composition completely detached from the representation of reality. From then on many painters have experimented this non-figurative art (also called non-objective art), which can be found also in other cultures of the past.<\/p>\n

During this 5-day intensive workshop students will learn to practice different kinds of non-representational art such as geometric abstraction<\/strong>, whose groundwork were laid by Piet Mondrian, lyrical abstraction<\/strong>, which follows the lessons of Wassily Kandinsky, and partial abstraction<\/strong> in which reality is conspicuously and deliberately transformed (Fauvism and Cubism are probably the most famous art mouvements that embodied partial abstraction).<\/p>\n

Along with this subjects students will be taught to master the different media that can be used for abstract paintings, such as oil, acrylic colors, watercolors or even mixed media. Students will eventually grasp that behind an abstract painting there should always be an idea or a feeling supported by a solid structure or by a centre of interest that students have previously developed by using forms, colors and lines.<\/p>\n

During this seminar students will realize how hard but also gratifying can be to develop and foster a personal project either on a paper sheet or on a canvas by using their talent and their artistic skills.<\/p>\n

Part of this workshop can also be dedicated to the fluid and drip painting method.<\/p>\n

This workshop is open to beginners (as long as they already have in their mind the idea for a composition or a design) as well as to professional artists who wish to discover this artistic universe.<\/p>\n

Duration of the workshop:\u00a05 days, Monday-Friday<\/strong>, 30 hours of tuition<\/strong> in total.<\/p>\n
